On May 8, the American Red Cross joins the 185 other Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies around the world to celebrate World Red Cross Red Crescent Day.
World Red Cross Red Crescent Day honors the efforts of more than 97 million Red Cross and Red Crescent workers, members and volunteers who work tirelessly to alleviate human suffering worldwide.
In fiscal year 2007, the American Red Cross responded to 21 international disasters by contributing financial support, deploying delegates and providing relief to millions affected by conflict and natural disasters.
