CHARLOTTE – Four volunteers from the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross will deploy this weekend to assist in the response to the massive flooding in North Dakota.
The volunteers – whose deployments will last two weeks – will be staffing shelters for residents who have been or will be displaced by the flooding.
On a national level, the American Red Cross continues to provide food, shelter and comfort to residents who live in the shadow of the Red River, located between North Dakota and Minnesota, predicted to crest at a record high of 41 feet this weekend.

All week, the Red Cross has been providing meals to the sandbag volunteers, with shelters open to offer a warm, safe place for people to stay should the water overtake their homes. Nationally, the Red Cross has deployed more than 330 workers and 28 emergency response vehicles. More than 50,000 ready-to-eat meals are already on site, as well as cots and blankets.
