Introduction to Iredell County's Operations
Touching the lives of thousands in the Lake Norman Area in FY 2005/06…
Our 75 Volunteers and 6 professional staff (RATIO of 12:1) provided:
Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES)
We handled 35 local cases, and maintained a 24-hour emergency assistance network that kept military families in touch with their loved ones during family emergencies, major events (such as the birth of a child), as well as provided emergency assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, etc. when needed.
Blood Services
We collected 3,127 units of blood and registered thousands of people into the National Bone Marrow Registry.
Disaster Services
We assisted 90 people (40 of whom were Katrina evacuees). The Red Cross provided shelter, food, clothing, comfort, counseling, and other necessities for these individuals. The chapter spent $3,220.56 more in direct financial support than was budgeted.
Family and Community Safety
We provided 280 people with information relating to disaster and safety, distributing an additional 7,007 pamphlets on safety and preparedness.
Health Education Services
We taught 8,472 people how to be safe in their communities through first aid, CPR, workplace training, water safety, etc.
Transportation Services
We provided 2,775 free trips to medical and support service appointments (dialysis, rehab, etc.) for people who had no other means of transportation.
