Fire displaces family, puppies from Stanly County home

10.27.2011

Late Wednesday night, a fire broke out in Amy McClain’s Stanly County home.

Amy and her son, William Bailey, his two sons Matthew, 1, and Justin, 8, and their mother Christina Rodden escaped the fire with no injuries. The family had 12 dogs, eight of them puppies. All but one of the dogs were rescued from the home.

The fire caused severe damage to the home and destroyed nearly all the family’s possessions. Fortunately, our American Red Cross volunteers were on the scene to help.

Diane and Jerry Frappier, Stanly County Red Cross volunteers, worked with Amy and her family and provided them with assistance for food, shelter and clothing.

Our caseworkers will continue to work with Amy and her family so they can begin the road to recovery.
